The Orland Park Police Department implemented the Vacation Watch Program as part of the Department Community Policing Initiative. The purpose of this program is to give special attention to homes which are vacant when residents are on vacation and to shorten the time of discovery of a crime should a burglary or other offense be committed. Each home which is on the Vacation Watch Program is physically inspected three times daily by a beat officer.
To qualify to be a Vacation Watch participant, the requester must meet the following criteria:
The resident live in the corporate limits of the Village of Orland Park;
The residents must be a single family home (no apartments, condos or townhouses);
Resident must be out of town for a minimum of five consecutive days, but less then 30 days;
The residents must be unoccupied during the time of the watch;
The homeowner must request the watch a maximum of 24 hours prior to departure;
Homes that are vacant for the purpose of a possible sale are not eligible for this program.
If you meet the above criteria and wish for a Vacation Watch to be conducted on your home, you may either do so in person at Orland Park Police Headquarters or phone (708) 349-4111 and request an officer to your home to complete the necessary paperwork.
