The communications center is one of the most important of the support services contained within the police department. Telecommunicators are responsible for maintaining a vital link between the public and patrol officers in the field. Telecommunications officers handle many types of calls and situations daily, from routine to emergency, critical incidents. The dispatcher provides a necessary, indispensable function for the public and the patrol officer alike.

The Orland Park Police Department maintains a fully integrated Communications Center within the department. The Communications Center serves as the Primary Public Safety Answering Point for the Village of Orland Park and the Village of Orland Hills for emergency police, fire and medical services. Communications provides both emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications for both Villages. The Communications Center is staffed 365 days a year around the clock with a minimum of two full time Telecommunicators on-duty at any given time.

In order to accomplish its goals and provide the highest quality of customer service, the Communications Center concentrates its efforts on both the most technologically advanced equipment and the highest quality training to facilitate the needs of the community. To ensure the highest level of efficiency, the Village of Orland Park utilizes an enhanced 9-1-1 system in conjunction with a Computer Aided Dispatch system.

If you are in need of police services, please call the appropriate phone number listed above. Please remember that 9-1-1 is utilized as an emergency number; if your call is of an informational nature, please call the non-emergency number. When calling please have the following information available to assist in the informational exchange process:

Please remember that our Communications Center like any other, has a limited amount of emergency 911 lines.  If you are calling to report a non-emergency call via 911, you may be delaying or depriving a critical service to a real emergency.  The department urges residents to use 911 for emergencies, however please use (708) 349-4111 for non-emergency service.
