The Orland Park Police Department maintains a unit of highly trained, specially equipped and readily available officers for the resolution of any special operations incident. This unit of the department is known as the SRT or Special Response Team. The mission of the Orland Park Police Department's Special Response Team is to preserve human life, to attempt to achieve non-violent resolutions to high risk situations, to apprehend criminal offenders, to prevent or minimize destruction of property and to preserve order in civil or criminal disturbances or natural disasters. SRT duties require the utilization of very precise and complex tactical skills. Personnel assigned to the SRT receive a minimum of eight hours of special training per month.
